Wrapping Up 2018
What's new, what's coming
In 2018, we accomplished important behind-the-scenes work in preparation for the upcoming launch of MapCast 2.0 in 2019. We also got to work developing relationships with data providers to bring new value-added mapping products to our MapWarehouse store as well as producing a library of mini tutorials to help you use them.
New Data In 2018
Ontario Satellite Mosaic
Skip the custom order! We worked with Planet Labs to offer our customers complete and up to date coverage of the entire province at 1.5m resolution, an excellent (and economical) option for 1:5,000 scale mapping and remote areas. Over 1,000,000 sq. km are now available through the pick and pay online store, MapWarehouse.1.5m Resolution |
LiDAR Elevation Mapping
Newer, better, cooler. You asked, we delivered. Our data partners at Airborne Imaging supplied us with GTA coverage at +/- 10cm accuracy with 1m pixels. Think of it as a picture where the pixels hold an elevation value instead of a colour. Better yet, play around with a sample file.LiDAR With Colour Ramp |

MapCast 2.0
Coming in 2019, MapCast will undergo a major release with a multitude of new features for our WMS users. There will be expanded and updated imagery for Alberta and Ontario, including the new Ontario satellite mosaic from Planet labs. In this release you'll also see for the first time a substantial amount of vector overlay data from provincial and other open data providers. Roads, water, and green spaces, plus municipal data like zoning can be added on to your subscription, styled and kept up to date for your convenience.Account administrators will be especially pleased with the upcoming release. Online tools to manage your account and monitor your team's activity will be in place to streamline data overages, subscription renewals, and keep informed about your bandwidth usage.
We're also planning a webinar for the new year, but you can start sending us your questions now! Watch for upcoming news about the release on social media.
